Sunday (Monday my time) results

This weekend really didn't go at all to plan.

* Friday night date ... nothing "happened"
* Sunday the big AFL game and my team got thumped
* I only managed to qualify for one of the big tournaments I wanted to play Monday morning
* Did ok in the early morning tournaments and then stunk up the $6.50 45 mans in the afternoon

I tried my best to satellite my way in to the Sunday Million and the Turbo Takedown but just couldn't get it done. I was so close on a number of occasions, for the TT my closest was 6th out of over 200 players when only 3 qualified.

The good news was that I cashed the Sunday Quarter Million for the first time. Not that its a huge achievement but it was nice to get paid after missing out the previous 2 or 3 times I've played. There was 33,000 starters and I finished around 3000. I busted out when I pushed all-in (5x blinds) with king queen off from the hijack and got called by ace-jack and my hand didn't improve. I'm fine with the play as I was getting close to desperation and needed to double-up.

I've been playing a few of the $4.40 180 man tournaments when I have time. As they're not turbos they take over 4 hours so I don't always have the time to play them. I've currently got an ROI of around 25% in them (over a small sample) which is ok as I haven't got a big score from them yet. Unlike the $6.50 45 mans where I managed to min-cash just 1 out of 15 attempts yesterday and my ROI is now negative in these which is extremely frustrating and hurting my bankroll.

So I started yesterday getting deep and cashing most of the games I played and finished the afternoon cashing none and decided to call it a night and watch Transformers 2 instead. I'll have a couple of days off now and hopefully come back revitalised later in the week. Bankroll is down to $1022 and not surprisingly the sharkscope graph took a pretty big dive yesterday.

Weekend goals

Since the break due to the Adelaide trip, I've been back at the tables a little bit more over the last week. I'm still not playing that much, but I'm putting in time. I'm still not doing anything exciting in the $6.50 45 mans (I haven't won one of them this month) but took down another $3.25 (out of 2 played) in a short session last night.

With a long weekend ahead, I finally get the chance to play in the big Sunday (US time) tournaments. As these are Monday morning Australia time, I'm normally working but thanks to the public holiday on Monday for once I'm not. This weekend is the monthly Turbo Takedown, there's the Sunday 1/4 Million and I'm going to try to get in to the Sunday Million for the first time. Playing the latter on my bankroll would be crazy so I'm of course going to try and satellite my way in. I don't have that many FPP's at the moment but the aim is to use them to get in to the Takedown and then play small satellite's to get in to the other two.

I started playing the satellites last night with no luck. I got deep in a couple but couldn't finish the job. The 1/4 Million should be straight forward as the $2 satellites are extremely soft and I have plenty of experience playing them. If I'm going to get up at 5 or 6am on Monday morning tho, I'd like to get in to one of the other big ones as well.

Fingers crossed

Radelaide

Yes, its been a while since I've posted. I actually haven't been playing much because I was down in Adelaide (nicknamed Radelaide) for a week helping to run a basketball tournament.

On the Sunday of the grand final I actually got a chance to get online at PokerStars as all the work for the tournament had basically been done. On the Monday I was out at the airport about 6 hours before my flight so played for about 4 hours or so. Since it wasn't the ideal place to grind, I just played the $1.75 18 mans. Of my first 4 games I won 2 ... but after that I failed to get a win and could only manage a few places from there.

After another date on Tuesday night and then trivia last night, I had the chance to play a little tonight. I was feeling tired so it was just a short session but I was back playing my favourite 45 mans, warming up with the $3.25's and then moving on to the $6.50's. This month it feels like I just can't get anything going in the $6.50's after doing well in them up until now. Thankfully the $3.25's are going well to make up for it.

I want to get up early and get to the gym tomorrow so I just played 7 or 8 games. 4 x $3.25's with a win and a 6th and the rest $6.50's with no cashes.

I might get the chance to play a bit more this weekend so hopefully I can get some better results in the $6.50's. Bankroll just over $1160.

PokerStars new sleeve sponsor for Cronulla Sharks

After Full Tilt Poker became short sponsors for the Sydney Roosters in the NRL, I knew it was only a matter of time before PokerStars got in on the act of sponsoring an NRL or AFL team. I was not surprised to see today that PokerStars have become the new sleeve sponsor for the Cronulla Sharks. PokerStars will no doubt be delighted that just after announcing the sponsorship deal the Sharks ended their 13 game losing streak!

Sharks Announce New Sleeve Sponsor @ Cronulla Sharks

The Hisense Sharks have confirmed that PokerStars.net has joined the Sharks as its new major sleeve sponsor for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

PokerStars.net is the world’s largest free of charge on-line poker website with more than 32 million members around the world.

“We’re over the moon with the two-year sponsorship deal and are really looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with the Sharks as they rebuild,” 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion, Joe Hachem, said.

“We definitely see poker and rugby league sharing the same sort of competitive drives and therefore a partnership like this with the Sharks really makes sense.”

The signing of PokerStars.net comes only weeks after the club announced Hisense as its 2010 and 2011 major sponsor and Shire Steel as a shorts partner.

More hands have been dealt on PokerStars.net than any other site, that’s over 40 billion hands dealt to date and more than 283 million tournaments played. PokerStars.net operates worldwide under the license from the Isle of Man Government.

PokerStars.net is also home to an elite team of sponsored players known as Team PokerStars.net Pro – a group of established and up and coming players that travel the world competing in international tournaments.

Another good month in the books. Again, I didn't play as much as some of my bigger months due to work and other stuff going on.

It was again one of my most profitable months and if it wasn't for a bad couple of days to end the month I would've had my first $300 month. It was also a good number of first place finishes and I'm pleased that I had more wins than seconds or thirds. As you can see from the above table, all my profit was made in my pet 45 man tournaments.
